Amanda was a client of ours whose daughter lived in Maine, and whose sons lived in Florida and Arizona. Amanda was widowed, and lived in San Carlos, California. At 87, she developed dementia, and began having trouble living alone. Clark Consulting was retained to help Amanda live independently at home for as long as possible. Through the right combination of caregivers and assistance, Amanda lived at home for several more years.
As the time came for Amanda to move into a nursing facility, we were there to help prepare and guide the family to the right decision in a timely manner. At each step, all of the family members were kept informed. Most importantly, Amanda’s children each felt that they were contributing to Amanda’s well-being and quality of life.

Robert and Tilly had no children, and had lived together for nearly 48 years. They were still living in the same house in Portola Valley that they had originally built when they had married. Robert slipped one day and broke his hip. Complications during his hospitalization left him incapable of managing the household, paying bills, or keeping the yard, as he had in the past. Tilly also had some medical issues.
Clark Consulting was asked to help resolve some of Robert’s hospital-related issues, and bring him home under conditions that were more favorable for continued independence. Robert and Tilly were able to remain at home for many years, and during that time, we assisted in managing a number of different service providers to achieve their goals.

Edwina was well into her 90’s, and still very sharp, but her legs had been giving her trouble for years, and she was unable to care for herself. At first, she had an agency providing her with 24-hour care; they cooked, cleaned, and kept her company, allowing her to remain in her Coastside home of many years.
Eventually, Edwina hired caregivers directly in order to save money, but this soon became too difficult to manage, despite help from family members. Clark Consulting was retained to help manage the scheduling and performance of the caregivers. In addition, we were able to assist Edwina to take Reiki and visit an herbalist. Her legs have improved, and her home life is now more manageable.
